Designed to bewilder or designed to slow you down?
Tesco’s allows you to quickly pick up a scanner, scan your goods as you move through the store putting them straight into your bags allowing super speed through the shop and the checkout. I love it! but for one step…
Once you finish you blip a barcode and your hand scanner asks you
No / Yes
The handset then tells you its transferring to the screen which next asks you the same question but with slightly more words and different phasing
but… more importantly it swaps around the confirmation button
Yes / No
It throws me off a little every time and makes me feel odd, but is this bad design or designed to slow you down?
I would argue that this design will always make the user feel uncomfortable.
